ATLANTA, Ga., Dec. 9, 2019 – Pritchard & Jerden supported the local community on Saturday, November 2nd, as the title sponsor for the YMCA Cowart Family Mission Miler 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run at Blackburn Park. All event proceeds were donated to YMCA’s annual Why It Matters Campaign. Over 25% of YMCA members need financial assistance to be part of the club – this campaign ensures that no one is turned away from the YMCA due to their inability to pay. Participating in the race helps fund sending a child to camp, sponsoring YMCA enrichment activities, or providing a meal to an underprivileged child in the community.
The event kicked off at 8:00 a.m. with a 50 Yard Dash, followed by the Mile Fun Run and 5K. Brian Resutek, 39, took the lead for overall male finisher in the 5K, completing the race in 19 minutes and 11 seconds. Zoe Garcia, 13, was the overall female finisher with a final time of 20 minutes and 54 seconds. The 5K had 77 people participating in the race.
The YMCA Mission Miler 5K is an official qualifying event for the AJC Peachtree Road Race, the largest 10K running event in the world. Big Peach gift cards were awarded to overall male and female finishers and all first-place age group finishers, while first through third place of each age group received medals. Additionally, each participant received a race shirt, chipped bib, and swag bag. A celebration followed the race that included vendor tables and music by DJ Jammin Dave.
